The Pontiac is a region known for it’s incredible agritourism sector. With a wide variety of amazing family-run farms, there is no better location to experience the farm life, encounter unique animals, learn about some of the food we love and cherish, and meet the passionate farmers responsible for such fantastic products. Join Aventure Outaouais for this unique local experience while we visit 4 locations throughout the Pontiac region of the Outaouais. From alpacas, yaks, sheep, lamas, chickens, and bees, to a family-run cider mill, this day has full surprises. Pet an alpaca, enjoy delicious honey tasting, savor some of the best apple pie, and try some yak meat, all while meeting incredible farmers.

Here are the 4 locations we will be visiting on this tour:

  • Ferme Pure Conscience: With sustainability and organic farming at the top of their priority, they are known for their incredible organic chicken eggs and their yak! You will be able to visit the yak and the chickens, while learning about their farming techniques. Plus, you will be able to taste some yak, a rare but delicious meat.
  • Coronation Hall Cider Mills: This family-run cider mill offers a wide range of products, from their amazing traditional English cider, to their delicious apple pies, guests will be able to visit their orchard, taste some of their products, and have lunch in their traditional dance hall which dates back to the 1940'. 
  • Willow Lane Alpacas: A unique hands-on experience awaits, where curiosity is encouraged, and exploration is welcome. Discover and get up close with their amazing Huacaya Alpacas. Learn about process of making the different alpaca products while getting to pet a few of these amazing creatures. 
  • Fermes Leystone: Fermes Leystone Farms is a regenerative wool farm and vineyard that cultivates, creates, and curates products and experiences that delight and inspire. Home to more than a dozen varieties of chickens, an adorable—and growing—flock of Southdown Babydoll sheep, and a guardian llama named Loretta, Leystone is a mixed agricultural operation. 

 

The Pontiac Farm Tour is offered every Friday from mid-June until the end  of September from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. The tour is run in our bus with groups of up to 14 people. Many pick-up and drop-off options are available (see Pick up/Drop off section for more information). Pick-ups will occur up to 45 minutes before the beginning of the tour. You can choose a preferred pick-up location at checkout and a specific pick-up time will be sent to you by email 72h prior to your tour. 

The price includes transportation, your awesome guide, and all the tastings, lunch, and activities. You will be given time to explore the different shops where you can purchase local products and fresh produce. This tour is offered no matter the weather conditions. Umbrellas will be given to guests during the tour in case of rain. This tour is offered in both official languages (English and French).

Our tours are all inclusive. Transportation, guide, cost of activities, and food are all included in the price of the tour. We wish to offer worry-free adventures to our guests so that they can relax and enjoy their adventure to it's fullest without having to think about the costs or details. If you would like to purchase products in stores during our Wakefield Tour or our Petite-Nation Tour, you are invited to bring a form of payment that is most convenient for you. Also, during our Wine & Cider tour, it will be possible to purchase wine, cider, and other local products if you choose to do so.

Here are just some of the things which we provide for no extra cost:

-Umbrellas in case of rainy days;

-Hiking poles for tours involving a hike;

-Snacks and water on selected tours;

-Bug repellant;

-Crampons and snowshoes during our winter tours.

We recommend you bring the following in order to make your experience more comfortable:

-Bring appropriate footwear depending on the chosen tour, preferably something that is comfortable to walk in and waterproof in case of hiking;

-We recommend you bring a reusable water bottle in order to avoid wasting plastic! We will have cold water readily available for you!

-For outdoor tours, a hat, sunscreen, and bug spray is recommended (we can provide appropriate bug repellant during the tour);

-In case of rain, we will provide guest with an umbrella, but we still recommend wearing a rain jacket or poncho.

-During the winter, make sure to wear layers (coat, inner jacket, long sleeve shirt, etc.) to keep warm. Also, wear appropriate footwear, gloves, and head coverings. Snow pants or layers for your legs are recommended on very cold days. We will have hot paws to help out!

Aventure Outaouais offers free pick-ups and drop-offs for all our guests. Two options are available:

1) For guests staying in one of the selected accommodations (list below) in the National Capital Region (Ottawa or Gatineau), a pick-up time (typically within a 10 minute time frame 45 minutes before the tour begins) will be sent to you by email prior to your tour. Not sure if you’re staying within a selected accommodation? Email us at aventureoutaouais@gmail.com with the address, name or map screenshot of your accommodations and we’ll confirm! During the checkout process, you will need to choose which accommodation you wish to be picked up at.

2) For residents of the region or those not staying in one of the selected accommodations or not able to reach them for pick-up, an additional pick-up location is available to you in downtown Gatineau (paid parking will be available nearby as well public transportation). During your checkout process, you will have a chance to choose this pick-up location (confirmation email will be sent to you with all the details including a pick-up time):

-Downtown Gatineau Pick-Up Location: at the corner of Rue Wellington and Rue Laval in the Hull sector of Gatineau. Two paid parking lots are located at this intersection as well as a public parking garage nearby at 15, Rue Leduc. Almost all of Gatineau's public transportation passes nearby at the Portage/Laval bus stop or Place d'Acceuil bus stop. Our Aventure Outaouais van will be parked at the intersection at the designated pick-up time.
